Contemporary Bathroom Designs

Contemporary Bathroom Designs
There are hundreds of bathroom catalogues available that show you ideas for your contemporary bathroom design, but not many take the time to explain what you should take into account when you are creating a modern bathroom.
The 'Envy' bathroom range from Roper Rhodes
The first thing to take into account is furniture, and there is a lot to choose from. Contemporary design generally requires simple furniture in sharp, straight lines. Choose between hardwood, metal and glass.
Design Time has several ranges of bathroom furniture and cabinets available that will complement our range of contemporary bathroom suites.
Design Time are the principle installers of Roper Rhodes bathrooms and Villeroy & Boch Bathrooms in Nottingham.
Call us on 01159 81 89 81 for more information about the current ranges available or to book a no-obligation design consultation.

The heart of your home - your kitchen

Design Time is often associated with the “hand painted kitchen”. This style of kitchen was introduced in the 1970s and is still regularly commissioned. Despite this, we have never stood still, continually designing landmark ranges from our Sheffield kitchen outlet to even include our highly contemporary kitchen range.
What all the collections share is our dedication to the craft of handmade, bespoke kitchen furniture and the sheer luxury and pleasure of having a room built to your specific requirements right down to the very last detail.

You might come to us with just an acorn of an idea of how you want your kitchen to be. We’ll take your idea and help it develop into reality. Our experience enables us to offer you an almost infinite array of options and the following pages showcase just a selection of the wonderful bespoke kitchens we have created.
But there really are no limits. Simply bring us your list of ideas (however long or short), and we’ll nurture them into something rather wonderful at the very heart of your home.

At Design Time, we strive to produce affordable luxury without limits. We do this by offering our customers a wide variety of quality materials and finishes.
Extraordinary combination of contemporary and traditional furniture to create truly stunning results.
‘Cabinets’ – Our cabinets are made from 18mm Melamine Faced Chipboard. This is our entry level standard. You can, of course, upgrade to medium density fiberboard, veneered plywood or solid wood cabinets. Our cabinets have been especially designed to support the weight of the heaviest of worktops such as granite and marble.

‘Cabinet frames’ – Our cabinet frames are made from solid tulip timber, adding to the structural strength of the furniture and reducing the possibility of the frame splitting around hinge stress points. Medium density fiberboard is used for painted commissions as this material is rigid and durable which prevents the paint from cracking or flaking.
‘Hinges’ – We use the highest quality hinges since they are in constant use and take a lot of strain. We use a traditional butt hinge as standard, recessed into the door to offer additional support. You can, of course, choose the hinges that you feel most suit the style and look of your bespoke kitchen.

‘Drawer boxes’ – Our Drawer boxes are made from 15mm pine with an oak stain. They are dovetail jointed and feature a solid 9mm plywood base to easily cope with heavy contents.

Our Experience Using Nottingham Based Design Time for our Kitchen Design and Installation

As soon as we set foot inside the showroom doors at Design Time in Nottingham we knew we had found the perfect place to design our new kitchen.

We had been looking for quite some time, but no other company had such an array of possibilities set out for us to see.
They had both classic and contemporary kitchens although we knew we were looking for a more modern vibe I must confess that even the more classic kitchens were very appealing in their showroom.  The staff on hand was able to answer all of our questions and it simply did not take us long to decide that this is where we would be able to find and build our dream kitchen.

The Design Consultation

We wanted to do our kitchen from the floor up and our design consultant knew just how to assist us.  From the flooring to the cabinets, the counter tops, the lovely brand name, high end appliances and more, we were guided in making choices that fit our dreams, met our budget and looked even better than we had imagined.  We wanted a kitchen island for doing prep work as well as for having friends and family over to sit about and chat while we cooked or sipped tea.

The design consultant was able to create the look I had in my mind quite easily.  The best part of all is that the consultation and design service was free.

After we had our design in place we decided to order our new kitchen.  We contracted not only for the materials needed to complete the design of our dreams but also for a complete installation service.  A few days before the date that work began we received a call to confirm that everything had come in and that our new kitchen would be installed on schedule.  We had heard horror stories from friends about waiting and waiting but this was not the case with Design Time Nottingham.

The professionals from Design Time were courteous, prompt and hardworking and the quality of finish was top notch. They removed and hauled away all of the old kitchen fixtures and installed every piece of our new kitchen as if they were working on their own home.  No shortcuts were taken; no dings or nicks were made in any of our new pieces.  From the new floor to refitting the plumbing and moving electrical outlets, everything was handled quickly and professionally and it was quite clear the installation was well-planned and well-supervised.

There were absolutely no issues from shopping to design to installation and to the day we started enjoying our new kitchen.  Friends and family were amazed, not just by the beauty of the design but also by the speed with which the whole project was accomplished.  More than one friend could not believe that we did not have to call over and over to get things accomplished or to fix this or that; we simply had a flawless project from start to finish.

As a matter of fact, this project went so well we just might have to redo a bathroom or two and we will certainly be using Design Time and recommending them to everyone in the future.

Kitchen Installation: Important Points to Check After Your New Kitchen Has Been Installed

Nottingham Kitchen Design and Installation
Once a contractor has come in and finished the installation of your new kitchen it is vital that you take some time to do a full check of the new kitchen design and be sure that the kitchen design you specified has been followed and that all of the installations are in working order. There are several aspects of the room that will need to be checked.

Are the proper colors, styles and materials installed?

A quick look around should be able to verify whether or not the contractor followed directions and used the proper materials and colors that you ordered. Appliances should be the right model numbers and colors. Flooring and wall coloring should be the ones that you chose and countertops should be the ones your ordered. While this sounds a little basic it is best to be sure that a contractor did not sub out similar materials for those order, for instance is that granite countertop really granite? When in doubt ask for purchase orders for materials so that you can double check with suppliers. Open and close the drawers and doors, the closets, the refrigerator and anything else that moves to make sure these have been installed properly.

Is the plumbing in order?

Run the ice maker, check for leaks under the refrigerator, inside the refrigerator and behind the refrigerator; make sure these are no puddles on the floor and that ice cubes are forming well. Run the water into the sink, checking underneath for leaky pipes or a leaking drain. Run the waste disposal unit and make sure it works. If you have a lower floor or a basement go down below the kitchen design and check for wet spots near the sink, the drain lines and the refrigerator.

Is the Electricity Working?

Check each outlet and light switch. Make sure all electrical parts of appliances are working. Gas stoves may not cook with gas but they have electric timers, ignitions and lights. Make sure switch plates and socket covers are on properly and that there is no exposed wiring, even under or inside a cabinet. Make sure the refrigerator and freezer are both cold enough, check with a thermometer if at all possible. Run the exhaust fan and the range hood light, make sure no one forgot to wire these two important parts of the kitchen.

Sealers, caulk and more

Make sure that all surfaces that need to be sealed to prevent water damage have been taken care of properly. Also be sure that countertops, faucets and any other spot requiring caulk has been taken care of and that the appropriate materials were used for the job.

Are the appliances properly secured?

Dishwashers have to be properly secured under the counter and into the cabinetry or there can be a minor catastrophe when the door is opened and the appliance tilts forward. Built in microwaves, garbage compactors, refrigerators and wall ovens all must be properly secured in order to prevent accidents, damage to floors, and possible injuries.

Some other things to check would to make sure that heat vents were reattached to the duct work if they were moved and to make sure new windows work properly and that old ones were not damaged or painted shut. A new kitchen design is an exciting event, but even the best contractor can overlook something so all new kitchens should be carefully inspected.
